Meet the 2021 Executive
At the Beta Alpha Psi USYD Chapter, we have a small but dedicated team of executives who not only serve to organise and provide events for our members but also act as a voice for the Oceania Chapters amongst the broader Beta Alpha Psi International Organisation.
Sunanda will be in her fourth year of Commerce/Laws in 2022, with a major in Accounting. She will be continuing on with the BAP team as the Co-President after being the Competitions Director and Sub-Committee member. Her interests include reading, writing and accounting puns (for example, people are like land and they should always be appreciated). Please say hi at the next event if you have any questions about becoming an associate member of BAP.
Kieran, who is moving into the Co-President role, is a second year Commerce student majoring in Finance and Professional Accounting. He works full-time in the CBD, currently in an accounting role. In the summer you’ll be sure to find him playing Mosman 5-a-side by day and hitting Manly by night. His interests include sports and travelling - please hit him up if you have any questions about BAP, juggling commitments, or want to hear about why the Aussies are a lock for the RWC next year.
Maya is the General Manager for BAP in 2021. She is studying a Bachelor of Commerce/Advanced Studies. Currently in her 3rd year, Maya majors in Finance and Accounting. She joined BAP in 2020 and has previously worked at the Events Director. Maya has also been vegetarian her whole life and never eaten meat!
Communications and Careers Director
Lachlan is the Communications and Careers Director for BAP in 2021. He is studying a Bachelor of Commerce/Advanced Studies. He is studying in his 2nd year and majors in Finance and Business Analytics. He joined BAP in 2020 as a Communications subcommittee member, but is very keen to take the helm of the Communications portfolio this year. When he's not cramming for exams, Lachlan loves to travel and try different foods. Lachlan has also met every Prime Minister since John Howard!
Events and Competitions Director
Chris is an Events and Competitions Director for BAP in 2021. He is studying a Bachelor of Commerce/Laws and is in his 2nd year. Chris majors in Finance. He joined BAP in 2020 and is keen to continue his contribution to BAP for 2021. Chris is also an incredibly lucky guy; he once has held a royal flush in a game of poker.
Events and Competitions Director
Kei will be an Events and Competitions Director for BAP in 2021. He is studying a Bachelor of Commerce/Laws and is in his 2nd year. Kei also majors in Finance. Kei joined BAP in 2021 and has been an active member ever since. Kei is definitely a unique character: he can speak Norwegian (a little bit) and has never read Harry Potter!
Jonas is a Marketing Director for BAP in 2021. He is studying Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Advanced Studies and is in his 2nd year. Jonas majors in Finance and the Professional Accounting Program Jonas joined our Chapter in 2021 and is keen to make a difference. Outside of BAP and university, Jonas is a massive sports fan and loves the Sydney Roosters. He is also very excited to travel after lockdown.
Ryan will be one of our Marketing Directors in 2021. He is a second year student studying a Bachelor of Commerce/ Advanced Studies, majoring in Finance and Professional Accounting. Ryan joined BAP at the start of 2021 in the Events subcommittee and is keen to further contribute to BAP's digital brand strategy. Outside of uni, he enjoys cycling to new places and talking about anything related to sport!
Troy will be one of BAP's Sponsorships Directors in 2021. He is studying a Bachelor of Commerce/Advanced Studies and is in his 2nd year. Troy currently majors in Banking and Finance. Troy joined BAP back in 2020 as a subcommittee member in the Marketing portfolio, but is very excited to be in his new role. Troy came to the University of Sydney through the E12 program and was awarded the Inspired by Business scholarship. He also works for the university as a Student Ambassador.
Tom will be one of BAP's Sponsorships Directors in 2021. He is a 2nd year Bachelor of Commerce/Advanced Studies student. He majors in Finance and Financial Mathematics and Statistics. He has been with BAP for 1 year and is keen to take on his new role. Tom is very excited about the year ahead, whether than be onboarding new sponsor firms or simply watching BAP grow. Don’t hesitate to reach out to him with any questions about BAP, or even finance in general.
After some case competition experience in other finance/business societies, Genevieve joined BAP as a Sponsorship Director this year. She is a second year Bachelor of Commerce/Law student majoring in Finance. Outside of university, Genevieve is a DJ and an avid athlete playing anything from basketball to fencing.
Janine teaches financial and management Accounting at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has been the recipient of a number of teaching awards. Prior to joining academia Janine worked as an accountant for a number of leading Australian and Global organisations including those in banking, oil & gas, television and telecommunications. Her experience has been gained in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Australia.
The Faculty Advisor role involves mentoring the chapter, providing references so good that potential employers not only want to hire, but also adopt, Beta Alpha Psi students and being an enthusiastic (but not before 10am) and supportive member of the team. Janine believes no member of BAP should ever leave one of our events hungry.
Rhys studies a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney, majoring in finance. Since he joined BAP 3 years ago, Rhys has won domestic and overseas case competitions on offer, led the chapter as Co-President in 2021 and will be continuing his work as Co-Chair in 2022. Outside of uni, Rhys works in private equity and will be interning over the summer at a global investment bank. Be sure to reach out for a chat!
Lily is a Co-Chair of BAP for 2021, following her role as the chapter Co-President in 2020 and Competitions Director in 2019. She is currently studying a Commerce/Law degree, majoring in Accounting. She very much enjoys meeting new people and is always keen for a chat - so definitely come say hi to her and be sure to ask her all about her BAP experiences at our next event! In her spare time, she enjoys exploring art galleries and museums, watching movies and taking long walks down the beach.
After a successful role as President in 2019, and Co-Chair in 2020, Jeff will be continuing his work with Beta Alpha Psi as a Co-Chair in 2021. Last year, Jeff represented Australia in the 2020 Global CFA Institute Research Challenge Team, and became the first Australian team to ever win the competition as world champions. Jeff proudly flies the BAP flag everywhere he goes. He is a very down to earth and caring person, and is always free to have a chat about absolutely anything. Jeff studies a peculiar combination of Physics, Economics and Finance - ask him why! On the side, Jeff works as an employee within Asset Management at a major investment bank. He is also passionate about analytical & scientific communication in the workforce, along with financial literacy for all. Say hi to Jeff and he will gladly show you yet another opportunity on offer!
